Christmas in New York is very festive, beautiful and fun to walk around. Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue and other department stores decorate their windows, and illuminations and Christmas trees are everywhere.
The most famous Christmas tree is the one at Rockefeller Center. Here is the photo that I took four years ago. Can you tell the Christmas tree is huge? It is so beautiful and worth looking especially at night time. I took this photo with my cell phone so I am sorry about the poor quality of the photo. A huge tree is chosen for this every year and after the holiday period is over, it will be transformed into lumber.
The other very famous event is Christmas Spectacular at
Radio City Music hall. It is a Christmas theme musical with perfectly lined up girls called Rockettes. My sister-in-law took me to the show once and, it was amazing! I love the wooden soldiers. The Rockettes looked like wooden soldiers and they moved simultaneously! If you visit New York around Christmas, you have to see it.
We usually have Christmas dinner at Rod's sister's house. Fortunately, Rod's brother-in-law is an excellent cook (not professional but very good) so we always have wonderful meals there. I will show you his delicious meals after I take some pictures.
I always make this dish for Christmas dinner. It is called Chirashi-zushi which is kind of sushi but seasoned with vinegar, Sake and sugar so you don't need soy sauce. I put many kinds of toppings on it. All the family members like it, and it looks little like Christmasy. So I am planning to make it again this year.
In this economy, it may be little tough to be in a cheerful mood, but Christmas is always a special event even for me (not Christian). I love the joyful atmosphere and the most lively time of the year. Yes, it is the most wonderful time of the year!

Hi, Chizu san. How have you been? I could see your face on this blog. You look great and very pretty. Time went so fast. It's Christmas time again? Well, I am very sorry to hear about your Molly. Do not be upset so much. I believe that she is happy at Heaven. I will come back your English blog again. Take care!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment, Michiko san! You must be a visiter of my Yahoo blog. I needed to write about Christmas for our friend so that the friend could use this article for his magazine. Regarding Molly, we still miss her. I just hope she is happy to be in heaven.
ReplyDeleteChizuru san, I am Suise238 on Yahoo blog. I had not sent my any comments on Yahoo blog for eight months. Now it is about time to come back to Yahoo blog, though. I have started my blog little by little. My husband visited me last month and we both went to see my daughter in Hawaii a couple months ago. Hawaii was great. He again went back to US now. Well, we will see at Yahoo blog, too. See you!
ReplyDeleteI see, Michiko san. I was wondering about that. I am a lazy blogger now so I only update my blogs once a month or so. That's great news! I am sure you and your husband had a wonderful time with your daughter in Hawaii. I've never been to Hawaii. I really want to go there in the future. I will visit your blog when I have time. Let's keep in touch! ;)
